It’s Already In You

Happy & Healthy Sunday to You!

I pray you and your loved ones are healthy and safe.

Today’s message is going to be short and sweet (Really, I mean it this time). I want to check in with you on how you are doing with your 2022 Dream Launch, as well as share with you a powerful reminder I received last night: What you need is already inside of you.

Let’s jump into it:

Dream Check-In

Back in January of this year, I posted “Don’t Let Your Dreams be Just Dreams.” In that piece, I challenged us (myself included) to focus on actualizing at least one dream this year.

Regardless of where you are in that process, I would like to encourage you to keep going. Recognize all of the micro-goals you have accomplished and continue to move forward.

Just in case you need a reminder, here are the 7-Questions for the 2022 Dream Launch:

Please drop me an email at kecia@drkeciallc.com and share your dream and the progress you have made or look forward to making. I would love to cheer you on (Sorry, my pom-poms from my cheering days are long gone)!

It’s Already In You

The following reflection is connected to launching your dreams…

During a call with a Sister-Friend last night, I received a word that came interestingly enough from her medical doctor. Her doctor discussed how trauma was experienced and passed on by our African ancestors who were enslaved (often referred to as intergenerational trauma). I am familiar with epigenetics and the work of Dr. Joy DeGruy. However, the way my friend framed it almost had me launch my phone off of my balcony! The medical doctor she spoke with talked about “Saving Memory.”

As I understand it, Saving Memory is how our DNA calls upon what it has “learned” throughout their transmission to us from our ancestors’ survival. It is that learning that is transmitted into our bodies that inform them how to respond to physical maladies in order to save our lives. Said another way, the molecular memory from our ancestors’ survival is what is helping to save our lives every day! If this is true, what do you plan to pass on to the generations to come?

The late great Whitney Houston’s rendition of “Greatest Love of All” is a gift that will continue to touch lives.

Whether you are passing on the ability to dream dreams, to love fully and unapologetically or to work towards justice, it all starts from a very special place: Inside of you! Your benevolent ancestors made sure of it!

In Solidarity.
